Daily Activities

Making marigold torans.

A daily schedule will be posted at camp. Click below for a sample of last year's schedule.

Planned activities may include: Indian themed classes, crafts, recreation and games, Indian dance and age-appropriate educational programming for children; attachment therapist presentation, Indian cooking demo and other adult sessions; family activities, an Indian meal and. . . . FUN!

Our goal is to facilitate our kids’ education about Indian culture in a fun environment.

Children are grouped into classes by age/grade.

"It was a great time and learning experience for all of the children. Thank you for all the work, the camp was so well organized and that is greatly appreciated!"  - 2005 Camp attendee

Adult Programming

Coming back from yoga.

Adult campers returning from yoga class.

Each year we provide several adult programs designed to help you learn more about South Asian culture and to provide information and support on adoption and parenting issues. Adults will have several educational classes to choose from. In the past these have included: South Asian Cooking, Attachment Therapist presentation, Gods & Goddesses of South Asia, South Asian Basics, Religions of South Asian, Indian Art & Iconography, South Asian Adoptee Q&A, Yoga, Book Group and Dance.

Several activities are planned each weekend for families to enjoy together including social events, meals, outdoor games, a Bollywood party, Rangoli and educational classes.

All campers also have the opportunity to have an individual or family photo taken and we always take an all-camp group photo.

Friday Excursion - a little extra fun. . .

A visit to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts.

The official start of Camp Masala is Friday evening, but some families choose to come to camp one day earlier to participate in the Friday Excursion. This is an outing held in the Twin Cities visiting local South Asian spots of interest.

In the past we have visited a Hindu Mandir, sampled the products in a South Asian grocery, toured the South Asia exhibit of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and learned about fusion cooking from Chef Raghavan Iyer.

The Friday Excursion is a good opportunity to connect with other campers before we kick into high gear.
